    Default Rusty M1 pot?

    Bought an old m1 pot. Inside is very rusty. I can't read the # stamp. Suggestions?

    A lot of the heat stamps are faint, so it may be difficult. For me, a little spit and a rub with my thumb usually does the trick. (That sounds so wrong... )

    If its really bad, a bit of gentle rubbing with wire wool, then cover with chalk, and rub off the excess.

    It looks like a front seam WW2 pot, swivel bale sewn chinstraps, plenty of overpaint, which would obscure the heatstamp.
    But it's difficult to tell for sure with the photos provided. She's a nice "been there" pot though!
