Is there any way to date a US Schluter helmet?

I started doing reasearch on a helmet that i picked up at a yard sale when i was younger. There is a stamp that reads 4A is there any way of finding out when it was made?

You could wine and dine a Schleuter, but I can tell you from experience that they don't make for good conversation.

As far as I know there is an author working on a Schleuter date chart, but I don't know if it's done yet.

Thanks ill have to look up on it. I thought the lower the stamp the earlier it was made but i was reading about a helmet with another early stamp that had characteristics of a helmet from late 1944. Schleuter's dating teniques are...odd

at this moment in time theres no dating chart for SCHLUETER made M-1's but with such a low number its going to be early is it fixed bail ?

No, but its a vietnam reissue so it looks like the bails were rewelded on because ones crooked and ones lower than the other.

Hi there, i thought that they phased out front seam manufacture around the end of 43 and went to the rear seam type but i may be wrong,i hope it's a help.
