    Hi,
It is an M1, but if it is lower in the dome to the ww2 model it could be vietnam war issue IE, 70,s
i am also going by the strap as it is the same colour as VN. The strap colour is also the same colour as the korean war, but they used the W.W.2 helmet shell there, so it is down to the dome.

the best way to find out as to whether or not its a US M-1 is to find out if it has a heat stamp number & if it has what this number is ?

    Thanks guys.

I got this shell for free today. The heatstamp says 51A with an S under the numbers.

the S means its a SCHLUETER made shell not as common as McCord made ones

Late WWII - as far as I know, Schlueter did not make any helmets after 1945.
