    Patches, you've seen mine but I figured I would show it on this thread, 1943 McCord fixed bail with navy blue paint and Navy Lieutenant insignia. You'll have I excuse the paper towel role, short on stands as of now! Westinghouse liner has a couple busted straps and a little rust.Click image for larger version.

    It's hard to say, the Navy had no standard colors they used, kinda depended on what was in the paint locker and what the current CO or XO wanted to use for colors. Red is typcally assigned to Repair Lockers or damage control but that's not always the case and is often used for gunnes. Various shades of grey are typical for general purpose, just because they blend in with the hull color better than olive drab. White helmets were used in shipyards for safety officers, shore patrol wore white and I am sure there are others, there is not telling.

    So you have a photo of the helmet to share?

    yes here it is. i decided i would get this really early fixed bale in not so good condition because it was cheap and then i would get another that i am currently going for that is a diffrent shade of grey and is late war. here is the one i have now. i know it is pretty bad!1 all i see is a heat stamp of 6C but maybe i am not seeing the whole thing.

    i think the heat sta mp is 6C but that is really early so i dont know. what do you think?

    Nice helmet but my neck is sore- can't you simply rotate your pics before you post them!

    its more than likely the other numbers have been obscured by the rust & paint.
