heres my navy lids
the brown looking one was at some point grey as it has flecks of grey paint on the chin strap but not sure as to why it now looks brown it has the USN stencil on the inside at the back of the shell.

Hello this helmet is not navy I believe it is paratrooper, I have seen the marking before I believe it indicates where someone was located in the plane I remember seeing it somewhere but cannot remember I believe it was done in the 50s and early 60s
Since the chinstraps and liner are not airborne that helmet is definitely Navy IMO.
