Just had another look but cannot see the letter S I have also cleaned around the numbers and it is M-131A.

well i cant give you a date i can only say it is either a Schlueter made shell with the S missing or its a 1950's made McCord shell cant really be of much more help then that sorry.

i have a m1 helmet that the inner stamp numbers seem to say: either I 2524 or 1 2524; could anybody tell me anything about that? its a nam era rear seam
the use of heat stamp numbers as a way of dating the shell can only be applied to WW2 manufactured lids.
