The liner looks to have been painted in the "NATO" camo colors used on vehicles and equipment from the "post Vietnam" time frame.

Luxembourg: Everyone has their own opinion, of course, about if the grafitti is "real" and from the VN period. One thing to remember is that not all soldiers served a lot of time outdoors in the field. There were many rear echelon personnel who may have grafittied their helmets but did not serve outdoors enough for the severe fading you get on some helmets. If the dates on the liner and cover are Vietnam era, then it is certainly possible it was used there. Unless proven otherwise, assume it is from that era, display it, and enjoy it!
