Usn m1 helmet

I found this m1 helmet:
The chinstrap is gray
outside is repainted light gray
inside it have te original color dark gray
the chinstrap is sewed up
i belived it was a home-made helmet but i found an original photo of vietnam war about an pbr sailor with the same m1
can explain me whats tipe is?

Where is the reenforcement strap on the border of the helmet comming together ; front or rear?
And where the chinstraps are attached to the helmet , are they welded or

its a rear seamed swivel bail m1 type helmet but weather it was US use or not i don't know as allot of these were used by numerous other countries after WW2 ??

Looks like a potswar M1 helmet to me.

After WW2 many country used the M1 design. The chintrap for one is not a US M1 WW2 chinstrap.

Including Denmark and Norway.

But if you want to be surtian of it, you can check if there is any stamps insite the helmet and then we can tell you if you have a real WW2 US M1 helmet

I agree, this is NOT a USA helmet! it's a foreign made copy, probably Dutch or Norwegian? used by civil defense

Lucas, the chinstrap on your helmet is post ww2 and due to the color you state is like they said not a U.S. version. Also it has been added to the helmet as they had sewn it on backwards so it is still possible that the steel pot is u.s. but the chinstrap is from ???

Note that the ww2 is on the left and viet nam is on the right.

Ok Ok he has a pic of a PBR crewman wearing the helmet....why would a USN soilder where a non USA helmet ???

its not the helmet in the pic he was useing it as a reference as it looked similar just look at the chin strap hard ware !!!
