Weird coloration on this M1

Article about: One of the helmet i already posted have some weird spots on it. But because of the net you dont see it good. So i took of the net and took new pics. can it be camo?

    I would like to think it was camo for your sake Robby.
    But my theory is that the darker parts have been covered in oil at some point preventing the lead based paint oxidising. I believe that’s why a lot of helmets look whitish green due to this reaction. If you look at old lead work on a roof it is almost white in appearance but if it has been treated with patination oil it remains its dark grey colour.
    As I say mate this is just my theory

    I don't think it was camo, but it looks like a nice helmet nonetheless!

    Try, didnt had hope or anything that is was camo. I just like the color on this lid.

    looks to me like the two darker areas have been cleaned for some reason while the rest of the helmet was left dirty ?
