    I have had this for a long time, it has been hidden away for a while. It is one of the first WWII items I have purchased. I have always wondered what the marking on the back of it is? Any ideas?

    Anyone have an Idea what the red diamond and 8 represent?

    Well the red diamond is 5th infantry division in the army. I've never seen it with an 8 but that may be a more specific form of identification for someone in the 5th infantry. Anything you could want to know is on this site. Hope it helped.

    A surplus store with a bin full of helmet liners that were in a warehouse for a long time. I got it about 8 years ago so I do not remember the specifics but the surplus store at that time had bulk WWII surplus that I wish they still had today, I got first aid pouches and a haversack then too. I think the liner was only 12$ I should have got a bunch more but I was just a kid at the time and I did not know the difference.

    wow! wish i was you. i sometimes find ww2 helmet pot under covers that i realize after i get home. they are always with vietnam liners. so i now basically only go to the military stotre every once in a while and go on ebay instead.
