Hello,
I found this rear seam, swivel bail helmet and I would like to know the date/year of manufacture if possible.
Also does the cammo appear authentic?
Thanks
Mark

Military Police possibly ?

Steve.
Has a good chance of being Korean war snow camo.
Does anyone know what MWA 14 means? I know it is probably the lot number but I wonder if you can date it.
Here are pics of the chin strap latch.
its a post war M-1 as far as the heat stamp goes there's no way that i know of to use this type as a way to date it all i can say its definitely post war as for the white paint being winter camo i have no clue !
Be careful calling white M1's 'snow camos'. They were painted white for several reasons, only one of which is for camouflage.
So, I guess all we can tell is that it is Post WWII.
Also, I guess there is no real way to tell if a helmet is white for cammo or other purposes.
What would be the correct liner?
50s, 60s or later?
I was told that the green paint on the chinstrap hardware was used in the early 60s.
green painted chin strap hardware is normally associated with KW era lids so you could add a liner of this era to complete it.
Here are some pics of the badly damaged liner that came with it.
