    Default WW2 U.S. Toy Helmet

Here is a uniqe item from my collection. It is a childs toy Army helmet made from a rejected M1 liner. This one appears to be one of the Hood Rubber Co. liners.

The manufacturers of the M1 liners found a way to get rid of those that didn't pass inspection for one reason or another. Instead of just scrapping them they turned them into toys and work helmets for the civilian market. This one pictured has the remnants of a First Sergeants decal on the front.

    Nick,
You are correct and I knew that. It is a St. Clair liner. I don't know why Hood Rubber Co. popped into my head. One of my reference books even shows these examples of the St. Clair toy helmet. Thanks for setting me straight.
