thanks for posting the pics it looks almost like a memorial the way it has been placed on that piece of concrete but why would a memorial be in what looks like the middle of no-where?

I think I've seen those pictures somewhere before, but I can't remember where it was supposed to have been or how recent the pictures are. It does look to have been placed deliberately on the slab as a memorial or similar, doens't it? It probably isn't quite in the middle of nowhere, for all we know there's a town just out of shot, plus maybe it's placed there to commemorate a battle that happened around there?

I believe those islands are all scattered with such things. Tanks pillboxes etc. Some are placed on slabs of concrete such as this one.
