    I can't see this as being gold, it seems to be a poorly conditioned silver with no sign of any gold lacquer at all. If you're getting the impression it is from the 'gold' looking catch, then that's just the tombak alloy showing through the silver coating.

    If you compare these pictures with the pictures other W&L vwa's of this link: Gold and Silver Verwundetenabzeichen by Wächtler & Lange
    the gold lacquer certainly looks like the gold lacquer of the link.

    Hi Henk,

    That may be your opinion, but not mine. I honestly can't see this as being gold, merely a typical silver badge with the usual copper undercoat that has taken on some tone due to the conditions it's been kept/found in. In fact I've never seen a Wachtler & Lange gold wound badge that has ever been a convincing one looker, I have serious doubts they ever made one and they are discussed on a regular basis on other forums regarding this matter. Here's my silver one as an example of the usual silver type in better condition.
