Default hollow backed Verwundetenabzeichen im gold

Hi everyone, I haven't seen a hollow backed Verwundetenabzeichen im gold before and wondered if it was the real deal or not please?
It certainly has a duller gold finish than some of the solid backed ones you normally see. It isn't maker marked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't seem to find a reasonably priced gold one to complete my small wound badge collection anywhere!!!

    Hi Jay,
To be honest I haven't seen a hollow gold badge either, I'm not sure they were made in this way.
I would suggest the badge you show is a black version with the paint cleaned off.
Hopefully a Verwundetenabzeichen collector can confirm or deny my opinion.........

    I think Adrian is correct.

The hollow, tombac/brass versions are simply black grade badges without finish,
or the paint has been removed.

It has been speculated that some of these 'brass' type badges - without
any finish - could possibly have been used in place of gold badges in
the field, later in the war. One WRF member states that a WWII
German Veteran told him this very thing, some years ago.

I also have one that does not appear to have ever been painted/plated.
This lack of paint does not make them worth more, in fact, they can
usually be bought for slightly less $$ than typical black badges.

Be prepared to spend quite a lot for an original, solid-back,
gold grade badge. They are not cheap.........!

I also think that it is a cleaned black.

Yea have already passed on this, defo looks like a black one with the finish taken off.
I can only seem to find dodgy ones on American websites!!!
    Thanks again

Yes it is sure a black one. I have seen many not so good dealers that try´s to sell black woundedbadges as gold ones. It´s good that they never made gold ones with hollow backs (correct me if I´m wrong).

That name alone is enough to make me pass without looking back.
