Re: Sliver/Gold Verwundetenabzeichen with strange clip.
I'll go out on a limb and say it is/was an original - and it has been altered to be worn
as a bolo tie. For those who don't know, this type of tie is fastened by a cord
or string which would run through the outermost ends of the clip where
they curl inwards. As to the question of no file marks being seen,
a very fine finishing file was likely used.
The reason I believe it is/was good, is the colour of the zinc where
it has been filed down. Still worth $10-$20 as a curiously
mangled badge.........

Re: Sliver/Gold Verwundetenabzeichen with strange clip.
Finally!
I have been wracking my brain all day knowing that I have seen that very style of clip but not knowing where. I have seen it in my closet on my damn bolo ties!
You are 100% correct. This WB was modified by someone at some point in time to use as a bolo tie.
Another mystery bites the dust.

Re: Sliver/Gold Verwundetenabzeichen with strange clip.
For me, a forum first: a legitimate window of opportunity for forum members to share images of their bolo ties in a German wound badge thread.
Just when you thought you'd seen it all...
if there isn't one up here by morning, i'm putting one up for those who have not seen the type of clip Walkwolf is talking about.

Re: Sliver/Gold Verwundetenabzeichen with strange clip.
I would then date this to the Teddy boy revival era of the mid 1970's - I can see the late Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood selling these in their Kings rd shop! ( Sid Vicious wore a swastika t-shirt!!! )

Re: Sliver/Gold Verwundetenabzeichen with strange clip.
Oh Yeah, i can imagine a punk or teddy boy wandering around London in the mid 70s wearing a wound badge tie, the punks were really into nazi symbolism

Re: Sliver/Gold Verwundetenabzeichen with strange clip.
Ok, lol - my fashion sense is not stuck way back in the 50's ! I needed a bolo tie
to do a couple of country music gigs about 15 years ago or so - there was a bit
of a revival in the 1990's. Would have LOVED a WWII wound badge slidey
thingy on it ! Besides, I only have the one. Templehof says he has 'ties'
- meaning more than one - in his closet.........!
