    Hi,

About this: Verwundetenabzeichen 1939 in Schwarz - Wound badge 1939 in Black. Unmarked.
(already posted in a thread, in past)

A friend, that collects third reich militaria, told me, that this is fake badge. because it has loop shaped bone and the helmet has no rivet.

    It's true?

    Regards.,

    Von River

The helmet does have a rivet, the badge look like 1939 not 1936
I am not sure where you are going about the rivet.

    Is the second rivet.
The helmet has no back rivet.

Although the lack of rear helmet rivet is not an absolute to a badge being bad, I must say I don't like this badge at all. The bow is definitely an issue as are the dots above the helmet. I agree with your friend.

to my eyes a possible Choas Dot Pattern or Low Rim fake.

the obverse has Choas Dot Pattern traits but reverse hardware and rim are what i am used to seeing on Low Rim fakes. Low Rim fakes share the dot pattern i've highlighted as well so probably i'd vote Low Rim fake here. in addition, although absence of the rear rivet is not diagnostic of a fake in all cases (as StugIII mentions), the Low Rim fake does exhibit this characteristic.

area of missing rivet we mention is highlighted for clarity.

again, not diagnostic of a fake badge in all cases and especially considered in isolation but in combination with other red flags present in this case, it can be taken as contributory to the overall group of signs which, taken together, suggest that the badge is problematic.

    shallow rim highlighted.

in addition the shape and contours of the bow on the obverse match the Low Rim fake. a search of "Low Rim Fake" on this forum should demonstrate this.

well... you know. i like to keep things pleasant.

seeing any fake military in itself is unpleasant enough. no one need add to the drama of the thing.

The oversized rivet to the left of the swas is alarming
