I have seen this for sale. The detail and pin set up don't look like any originals I have seen posted. Post war copy is my guess. Any help appreciated.

Hi Al, I would not think that there are any genuine one's of this award for sale on the "open" market as I would guess that all originals are either in museums or well documented and provenance assured. There were very few of these ever awarded so I would say that this is 99.999999% post war copy. Leon.

Definitely a fake. The fact that it is of solid color alone is enough.

I have had the pleasure of viewing and handling several originals in the past. They are as rare as hen's teeth. This example is not even close.

Below is an original gold example cased with document sold by Hermann Historica some time ago. The award was given to Hitler's adjutant Rudolf Schmundt and he was wounded in the 20th July assassination attempt (he would later die of complications on October 1, 1944). Compare the one that started the thread to this example.
