Verwundetenabzeichen Gold?

Article about: I got this at an auction and assumed a silver badge, but on the back there are remnants of gold. Am I correct to believe this to be a gold wound badge? Thanks.

That is a curious thing....surely there wouldn't be any great profit made by marking an unmarked badge??
Mark a previously unmarked badge with a desireable maker or non existent maker and suddenly you increase the value! Juncker awards are very collectable and command a premium price. If you add a completely wrong mark to an award you create a 'rare variant' or 'scare prototype' and can increase the value of an otherwise ordinary badge.
And yes, people do fall for it, that's why it always pays to do your own research and be confident you know what's right and what's not.

    Best Regards,

Many thanks for the info. I learned something new. Are there any good reference books on these badges? Who is the real mfg of this badge?
