    Yeah I think with condition and the price it would be a good buy, they can only get expensive!

    How can you tell it's not a silver grade that has become tarnished?
    You can't even make out the maker's mark, I would suggest you wait for another unless you know who the maker is and can get better photos.

    I agree Ralph, why isn't the hardware retaining any gold finish? Because it's a silver badge as you say. Still, that's all elementary now unless you're the poor bugger who bought it of course.....

    That's usually one good indicator. When the base metal badges absorb the gilt plating, the hardware-which is Not base metal-generally retains the most traces of the original plating. So, always make a point of carefully looking at the pin and hardware.

    Very true William about the hardware. Wish the maker mark was more visible. The pin totally obscures it.
