Pin and catch look fine, the number 3 looks different to what I am used to seeing on these badges.
"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
Thanks Nick, the 3 also grabbed my attention.....usually more "gothic looking". The catch and pin match vienna made, compared to other examples I looked at. This one is going pretty cheap so I have a little bit of doubt. Will wait for more posts before purchasing.
It's a good one, the number style is correct for the zinc badge.Only thing that may be of a slight concern is if the finish is original, as the photo is a bit ambiguous regarding that, but it may well be fine.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
The photo is a tad over exposed which isn't the best for determining if the finish is original.........
Can you get any other pics in natural light?
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
These are the only pics posted on the website
I don't believe the finish is original on this one though the badge is authentic. It appears that the internal hinge hardware has gold finish on it as well, which should not as I believe assembly came after finish was applied to a Wound badge.
Us and them - and after all we’re only ordinary men. Me, and you - God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do. Forward he cried from the rear, and the front rank died, and the general sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side.
