    Default Verwundetenabzeichen Im schwartz

    Hi guys.

Can anyone here Id the wound badge on the right of the pics, manufacturer etc. The left one is marked L/54 which I believe to be Schauerte & Hohfeld but the other is unmarked. It is highly detailed and has remains of black colouring on the front. The rear looks like it was always silver.
    Thanks, Mark.

    Hello Mark,
I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but the second wound badge in the lower pictures is a reproduction. Notice the missing rivet on the rear of the helmet, huge red flag. The other badge looks good to me, not sure on the maker marks.
    Regards

Thanks for replying so quickly. Not such bad news as it cost very little. Just took a chance as the detail was so good.

    Regards, Mark.

    Hello Mark
I totally agree with Desert Fox about the second badge being no good. These no rear rivet badges seem
to be popping up quite regularly on various dealer websites. I am sure there is a thread about them.

Guys, just because there is no rear rivet doesnt mean they are fake

    Hello Nick
You may well be correct , but the fact that there is an important part of the helmet design missing is
one huge red flag to me. If this is one makers variation I could probably wear it but these things
are all over the place with varying hardware configurations.

    Hello tempelhof
The lack of a rear rivet is a hallmark of badges that have been proven fake. Within about 5 minutes of
searching this forum I found 2 threads that basically confirmed this. The badge shown has the so-called
"dog bone" bow found on these fakes & other traits such as the shallow rim & high hinge. I cannot
comment on your gold example besides saying I wouldn't want it in my collection. That said, I would not
want any badge lacking a rivet in my collection, for If genuine examples exist I would not like the lingering
    doubt as far as authenticity.

    Regards
    Brett

I Agree with you nick, guys think of it this way.
Would a round 3 EK mean it fake? Just because it not have the traditional 3.

Look at this why are people giving ok's to this badge?
