It's real, but with the damage and by missing the black paint and the pin and catch, I'd say $5 was abit pricey. William

It is original,I really like it just the way it is.
It is a black would badge late in the war they would polish them to make them look like the gold wound badge.

Not sure what $5AUD is but if it's the same as $5 bucks US you didn't get hurt. Tell that kid to see if she has more of those "nazi things" and if more come in to save them for you.

As the others have said, an original black wound badge. Five bucks is a good price for a badge in this condition.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
