I have been toying with the idea of collecting the wound badges and going through as many makes and grades as i can find, ive got a BWB no/3 , i think its about time to "Specialise" in just one subject for the time being, and after 45yrs of collecting, its one of the easiest awards to go for, time to get off my backside i think

I started doing this - one or two Silver or Black per meet - but after a couple
of shows there were not many badges to be found ! Only a single WWI
BWB at the last militaria show this past weekend.

Do collectors think alike, or is everything simply drying up.........?

    Hello Steve
It is certainly slim pickings here in Australia. If you do see something good the price
will be absolutely ridiculous. The dealers charge extortionate prices & If you happen
to see something worthwhile at an antique & collectables show you better hope the
seller doesn't really know what he has or else the price will be three times the going
    rate.

    Regards
    Brett

    Hi Brett.

Lol - you're at the 'far end' of the planet ! Better to find a few well trusted
international mail order sources to keep you fellas from going nuts !

I know of a couple of local dealers here who buy outside the country.
They usually carry a few, but did not attend the show.
    There's always the next one.

    - Dave, please leave a few for the rest of us.........!

    Hello Steve
It's O.K. Only one of my badges has actually been bought in Australia. The rest have come
from Canada, the USA, Germany, Belgium & England. It is ridiculous, given the monetary
exchange rate & delivery costs that it is still cheaper to buy overseas.

    Regards
    Brett

Just thought I'd put a photo of my black wound badges up as well. All three given to me by different German Familes (one family lost a member in Stalingrad. I was able to read his last letters).

I have a relic BWB that was dug out from Stalingrad about 2 years ago. It was still crusted in soil when it arrived and I saved the soil for possibly putting into a small vial for display, my wife thinks that is weird.
