    Hello, Gentlemen

I'm about to pull the trigger on this wound badge. I'm confident that it is authentic, but the bubbling on the finish has me a little concerned.

    Advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure others will agree but that is actually in favor for the badge being authentic. This is a reaction the zinc had to the base metal when it was applied; the fakers have a hard time copying this trait!

I agree with William. This is a zincer - I have seen others from this
maker where the 'bubbling' does not show as much.........

    Hi William,

I'm not so much concerned with it's authenticity, but with it's stability. I tend to like to keep my pieces as-is and don't know if this one should be treated a special way to preserve the finish.

Nice One Joe, maybe a little Vaseline for her? That's all I can think of...

This would be a nice example for you to add to your collection Joe!
Since there is no zinc pest to speak of, I would not really recommend a vaseline bath, just be sure to keep it somewhat enviromentally stable and you should be okay.

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen!

I don't really mind the bubbling... I actually prefer the pieces of my collection to be salty. I just wanted to make sure that the finish isn't something that would vanish on me.

The bubbling should be fine and I agree with the others that any treatment should be avoided.

Keep it in a stable environment and don't handle it more than necessary - that same with any decoration - and it will see you out!
