Richard Howard Royer was born in 04/03/1941, he was a 1st lieutenant in the marine corps, who was a pilot for a Phantom Jet in the
VMFA-115 "Silver Eagles". Richard Royer flew combat missions in early 1966 but died in May, 1966 while returning from a mission when he crashed into the ocean, flying back to his aircraft carrier. Divers were in the water in minutes, but couldn't save him. Along with him, Second Lieutenant John D. Kramer died too, in the crash.

Here is a link to his online memorial: THE WALL OF FACES - Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund

I bought his visor a bit ago and thought it was worth sharing with you guys.

A very nice piece. Great condition and history behind it.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Keep the story with the hat, so sad and still missed and remembered after so long. He was no great age when he died. RIP Marine.
