The same as the other, but in much better condition! Arsenal 26 , and the codes make it a 1964 manufacture.

Nice rifle. What type of rear sight marks are on it? Made for them or export as shown on page 112 of the Lamont & Fuller book. Rich A. in Pa.

The type 56 was a Chinese push to modernize there army. They were still using a bolt action rifle during the Korean War , and found out they couldn't complete with the semi automatic rifles of the American forces.
My understanding is that the Russians set up the equipment and training to get the Chinese started on the type 56. In fact, quality of the type 56 is almost as good as the Russian SKS. Bluing isn't as rich , and wood isn't Tiaga birch either. The steel is of very high quality.
I like that a lot.
She's clean Gunny!
I also have a mint Tula arsenal 1952 issue Russian SKS.
I put my Chinese back together this weekend. I have a 1952 Russian arsenal refinish also. I will post pics soon. I have had them since a mint one was just around $100.
