Default 1941 Portuguese Contract Mauser manufactured K98 rifle.

I suspect that these matching Port 41 K98s have been presented before….here it goes again.

The rifle is serial numbered H 1707 and the bayonet is serial numbered H 19063.
Not matching …but in the same H block.

I like these rifles….I think Mauser did a great job on the finishing and the stock is profusely marked.

These are fantastic and your`s is in superb condition.
    Always great to see one.
I had a 1937 all matching numbers example in my hands a couple weeks ago, but in bad condition.
The last time it was fired was in 1971 and since then was stored in an humid cellar.
    Thank you showing.
    Cheers.

Hi David, the quality of manufacture does shine through.

I have a H Block matching number bayonet in my collection.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Ade,

A number of these 41 Contract rifles were imported into Canada years ago.
As you are aware the rifles were issued with serial number matching bayonets.
There is a fellow on a Canadian gun forum that is trying to find missing bayonets for the guys that have the rifles and don't have a bayonet...or have the wrong numbered bayonet for their gun.

The bayonet for my rifle is a matching bayonet numbered H19063, however, it is not serial numbered to the rifle which is H1707.
At least the bayonet is also in the "H" block.

    Thanks Ade.

I passed on the number of your bayonet to the fellow that is leading this quest.
So far he has been able to reunite one bayonet to the matching rifle

One has to be very lucky to have this happen.

Years ago I was lucky enough to find a matching magazine for an Artillery Luger that had been separated from the pistol for 24 years.
How happy was I! (And I never buy loto tickets.)

    David

    My lucky day.

The matching magazine was a major find for me as this Artillery is unit marked and in pretty decent condition.

    Ade,

This is the first marriage of bayonet and 41 Contract rifle as a result of this exercise.
I am sure that the owner of this rifle is a happy camper.
