    Default 1840's French Percussion Pistol with VB Makers Mark

    I have been given the opportunity to purchase what is believed to be a 1840's French Percussion Pistol with maker marks VB stamped. It is a beautiful piece but since I do not know much about these I was wondering if someone could help me verify it, or give me any more details about it? I've attached a couple of pictures. Does anyone know its approximate value?

    Hi, and welcome to the forum.

    It appears like it may be a home-made job or a rework, possibly made from
    a long gun or shotgun. The stock is rather bulbous and the trigger guard
    and ramrod are much thinner than one would expect from
    a factory or gunsmith.

    Just a guess.........

    Hi,the only listing I have for VB is Vincenzo Bernardelli of Brescia Italy who started producing pistols somewhere around 1865......Pete.

    VB is also Vivien Buissere,maker of grenades during WW1.
    This particular pistol looks also to me like a unique model.
