Hi gentlemen,
I have a 1911A1 Pistol & I dont found a good explanation on the markings.
The pistol is a rebuilt (see markings "AA" on the frame) from a WW2 Remington Rand frame
(N° 1793266 = Remington Rand 1944) & a Colt slide.
On the left side of the slide is the n°: 7790314.
On the right side: COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CONN. USA.
Is the pistol a WW2 rebuilt?
Is the slide a military issue, what era?
What is the signification of the N° on the slide?
The pistol was found by an old French soldier who was in French Army in WW2, Indochina & Algérie.
Thank you very much for replies.
Best regards from Alsace , France.
Carfin.
