Default 1937 Izhevsk M91/30 Sniper Repro Arrives

Well, here it is in all its glory. It arrived this afternoon on the Big Brown Truck. I took it apart and cleaned it - then oiled, reasembled and installed the scope. All in all, I am very pleased.

The rifle is a 1937 Izhevsk. The stock is, from what I can tell, a pre-war version and, perhaps, the original for the rifle.

The scope is a repro, manufactured at the same plant that made the originals and was made in 2009. It comes with a certificate and the mount is numbered to the receiver as were the originals. It fits well, locks up tight and the opticsappear clear and aligned. I'll have to see how hard it is to sight it in when I can take it to the range.

The price included the rifle, scope, scope caps, sling, cleaning kit, oil/solvent bottle and ammo pouch.Total delivered price was $413. I opted not to pay the extra $10 for a "hand-pick." I would recommend others do the same as the rifle came in a sealed box inside another box making it appear that the snipers come already packaged so there would be no way for them to really "hand pick" one for you.

I'll put the pictures below but what can the experts tell me about the rifle from the markings? It seems that the floor plate and butt plate might also be original - no electro-pencil line outs and the stampings seem aged like the receiver. Thoughts? Comments? Questions?

The rifle has been refurbished-it has the Izhevsk 'hammer and sickle in a wreath' post 1928 stamp and the post 1945 Izhevsk 'arrow in triangle' one as well as the 'rectangle divided' stamp for refurb-not all refurbs have mismatched parts depending on their condition going in to it. A very impressive looking weapon you have there, Mark V!

I thought pre-WWII model M91/30s were hex receivers...?

Ishevsk did not start producing round receivers until 1935. Tula started with round receivers in 1936.
