Article about: Thanks, but I think most of those are the regular 03 which is slightly different than the 03A3.

    Default 1942 Springfield 03 project

I picked up this 1903 Springfield that has seen better days, and I plan on finishing refurbishing it. I have an extra sight for it but I am not sure if it is the correct one, or what variation this rifle is. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to find info and parts so I can attempt to bring this back to its former glory?
    Thanks
    ,Ben

    Thanks
I saw some parts there before, but I need a reference for parts and how to tear it down. I know CMP has a guide for M1 garands and carbines but, not 03's
I guess youtube might have some videos as how to tear it down?

I know it is the A3 variation, the stock was replaced, and I mainly need help figuring out how to reapply an authentic sight, both front and rear.

Do you have a friend that is a gunsmith? Did you try Springfield Sporters/ Numrich for parts?Joe DeChristopher? The guy in New Tripoli? Rich A. in Pa.

I got a hood ordered for the front sight, I have plans to mound the rear sight which will be difficult since the mounts were messed with when it was sporterized, and I have to sand the stock so it will fit properly then I will re-finish it and reassemble...

You'll likely find original manuals for these rifles on Ebay,
if you are patient. There are also reprints like: "Know
Your '03 Springfield" etc, which will have some parts
diagrams and disassembly info taken from
    original manuals.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

I think I have most of the assembly down now... I got impatient and just took the whole thing apart and reassembled it a few times to get used to it
Ill keep an eye out on the bay for a manual thanks for the reminder I might actually have a pdf of it somewhere around here...
