    Default 98K - ZF41 original setup ?

    Hello

Is this ZF41 sniper rifle original ?

The 98K has the code ar 43 and is machting numbers. This rifle is in my collection for almost 25years, i guess its time to get an opinion from experts if good or bad :-))

For me it looks like the mount is one solid block including the backsight

    Hi Ade

Thanks for the link, thats a good site

Here is a pic from the ZF41 scopes and stuff i have for my sniper. That site helped me a lot
in finding out if the numbering of the scopes is correct

    All the best from austria

I would not be so sure on it being legit. From the pics the barrel looks like it's lightly pitted with a very thin to no finish and the rear sight parts look the same.... yet the ZF41 sight base has a newer not pitted blued finish. That usually sets off alarm bells in my book. Need to take it out of the stock and do pics of the barrel and sight base all around , pics of the stock cutout for scope base. It would help to to remove rear sight leaf and bad to see any contrast underneath it between barrel and ZF sight base. Your pics only raise concerns - not confirmation of anything.

    Hello gew98 .
I have no problem with these K98/zf41 . IMO the setup is original .
    1. ar43 Borsigwalde ,one of the two makers that year .
    2. the stock is not sanded , cutout looks ok .
    3. metal is not reblued ,
Concerning the pitting , look to the picture that I have posted .
Pitted on the barrel and the flat zf41 base but not on the side of the sight .
Colour difference between zf41 base and barrel is possible because the zf41 base are placed after testing the K98.
