    Default Broomhandle strange markings

Hi! I am in possession of an early broomhandle 7.63 that has two weird markings that I cannot find any reference for. The left side has the large Mauser banner but the spelling has the "S" in Mauser reversed.
The right side has the following: "WAFFENFABRIK MUSAER
OBERNDORF AF NECKAR" the AF is sort of stuck together. The only serial number I can find is on the left side behind the step on the barrel and only four digits remain. There is a hint of another number but it is worn beyond recognition. I hope someone can help me identify this piece. Thanks in advance,

The spelling is wrong. it says MUSAER instead of MAUSER. With a reversed S !?!

The line OBERNDORF AF NECKAR should read Oberndorf AM Neckar.
I would say a Chinese or Khyber pass clone.

    Cheers,
    Emile

    Welcome to the forum!

I would be inclined to say it is a copy too.

    Cheers, Ade.

If it is a copy it is quite well done. What would the value be ? Thanks

    minimal value, it's a 1920's Chinese copy.

Hi! If it is a copy, wouldn't most of the components be original? Could one of you kind gentlemen quantify a range of potential value? Actually I am considering purchasing this from an acquantance and have no concept of its monetary value. The finish is about gone but the metal is quite good with a few very minor light spots of rust. The bore is good and the weapon functions well. Thanks for all your help.

Every single part would have been made in China. No original German made components would have been used.

I cannot advise on value sorry.

    Cheers, Ade.

I also think that you got a China’s copy, but if you want a wall hanger, it may be OK. If you are looking for a shooter, be sure that you have a good gunsmith check it out before you attempt to shoot it. As a good wall hanger, I would go $100.00 to $200.00 + (if you hang it high enough on the wall, they can't read the marking)
