We found this with the JFS belt buckle. I have to assume its french as we found alot of correspondence from the WWll vet including alot of unused french/english post cards including pictures of destruction in europe (mostly battleships and bridges) If any one can help us identify this weapon it would be much appreciated. ThanksClick image for larger version.

It's a 19th century box lock D/B pistol. Is it percussion or pinfire? Are there any proof marks to asertain the country of manufacture? These are sometimes reffered to as Muff Pistols or Pocket Pistols. Better pic's needed really.

I think it's a pinfire because of the flat surfaces of each hammer.
It is interesting and unusual in that it breaks open like
    a shotgun normally would.........!
