We found this with the JFS belt buckle. I have to assume its french as we found alot of correspondence from the WWll vet including alot of unused french/english post cards including pictures of destruction in europe (mostly battleships and bridges) If any one can help us identify this weapon it would be much appreciated. It's a 19th century box lock D/B pistol. Is it percussion or pinfire? Are there any proof marks to asertain the country of manufacture? These are sometimes reffered to as Muff Pistols or Pocket Pistols. Better pic's needed really.

I think it's a pinfire because of the flat surfaces of each hammer.
It is interesting and unusual in that it breaks open like
    a shotgun normally would.........!
