    Default Carcano I.D.?

    Hello all

I've asked my local gunsmith to keep an eye out for Italian Carcano rifles for me. He found one for me today that is so cheap that I may not be able to pass it up.

He is unable to send me pictures, but he described the rifle to me.

This is what he told me:

    It's a carbine. It fires 6.5mm.

The receiver is marked GARDONE, BERETTA. 1932/ XI (XI for the Fascist's 11th yr in power...?) A6298. The stock has a FAT cartouche.

It has a bayonet lug and cleaning rod.

It has an adjustable rear sight that has a portion of the wooden foregrip cut out so it'll fit when fully lowered.

The muzzle is marked: "Z[], BO" (Z and a square, B and a circle).

I believe it to be a 91/28 carbine. I'll check it out today, take pictures and maybe bring it home.

It's the previous version to that, The JFK rifle was a 1942 wartime production (91/38), while the one I'm looking at is a 91/28... I THINK?

    Hi folks,

I went to the gunshop yesterday and was able to handle the rifle and work the action. It looks to be in great shape... I went ahead and purchased it. Unfortunately, I forgot to put the memory card back into my camera and I am not at my girlfriend's house which is two hours from my home and where my new Carcano now lives.

Here is a pic that looks to be the exact model of Carcano that I just purchased:

What luck! My local gunsmith took pics of the rifle to show me, but I went into his shop before he could send them to me. He had them saved on his phone and just sent them to me!

What's better? My girlfriend agreed to give me some money towards the rifle as part of her Valentines Day gift to me.

They are cheap, so I figure why not?!

I went out to shoot my Arisaka yesterday and had some major problems... . I need to have my gunsmith look at it as soon as possible!
