I just received my Christmas present this morning, a Harrington & Richardson manufactured M-1 Garand, serial number 549XXXX, purchased through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. I think it was an excellent deal, and the rifle came with completely new wood. I'll post pictures of it, along with pics of my K98 and Soviet M-44 when the weather's better.

Sounds like a great new toy Dusty. Bet you were dying for that one to show up in the mail. Get those pictures up!

P.S. Dusty, don't throw that box that it came in away, it will fetch extra bucks if you ever sell it.

It came in a CMP marked hard case at no extra price. Also, bayonets are going on sale, $60 for unissued and $45 for used. Guess I should get one.

If they are WWII era bayonets it's a great bargain,
but not so if they are the M5 type with the small
'US M3' style blade and 'M8A1' scabbard.......

They have both types for sale...the cut down M1's from WWII ($65) and the later M5A1's ($45).

These prices are pretty good for those types.

CMP has both unmodified M1 bayonets with sheaths and modified ones - $65 for issued and $45 for unissued. I placed my order today. You just can't beat their rifle prices.

Here are a few pictures of my rifles. Sorry for the poor quality, but a new camera isn't on the horizon just yet. The M-1 was manufactured by Harrington & Richardson, the K98 is a BCD 43, and I believe the M44 was manufactured at Tula Arsenal.
