Hi everyone, just bought this little flitlock traveling pistol for a good price. It looks to be of probably French manufacture and made c.1790. It is shown here with a watch dated 1814 and book dated 1793. Any comments welcome. Doug

Thats a little beauty!!!! . Its great to see pistols like that rather than been converted to percussion cap.

So what are the rules as far as shooting black powder firearms over there across the pond?

Thanks Phil. There is no problem with ownership of antiques here, but if you want to shoot them (or more likely if you want to own or shoot a modern made blackpowder weapon), you will require a firearms (if rifled barrel) or shotgun (if smooth bored) licence.

That's a very nice flintlock pistol - and indeed, nice pics.
Is it possible that it has a new hammer/cock ?

The metal seems to be highly polished or lightly
    sandblasted.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Hi Steve, thanks for that. It has certainly been restored, the metal has been polished and the cock may well have been replaced.

Well, it sure is a gem ! As Lew says, it's good
