    Model:1949/56 rifle
    Country of origin:France
    Caliber:7.5mm French 1929 cartridge
    System:gas operated,semi auto
    Weight:8.6 lb w/o mag
    Feed:10 rnd detach
This rifle is an eye catcher. It has a very nice balance in the hand.It blends traditional styling with modern features. The intregal grenade launcher, and flash hider give it a distinct(pleasing)look. The detachable mag is a plus with it's 10 rnds of fairly potent fire power. The design is quite good, utilizing a gas operated tilting bolt system. The Gas system is similar to the Ljunman 42, Tokarev, and the FN49.

    Spotted this old thread today.

Many yrs. ago I shot the MAS Mle 1936-51
Smooth bolt action rifle shootin´ actually, and, the rifle shot very accurate !

If it´s from interest, some images of the MAS Mle. 49/56 bayonet / Poignard-baïonnette modèle 1956 type 1 et son fourreau for the "fusil semi-automatique de 7, 5 mm, modèle 1949-56 ou F.S.A. 49-56", (7,5 mm M1949/56 self loading rifle)

It's a nice looking bayonet! The two rings, and what appears to be a locking lug in the middle of the handle gives it an exotic appearence. Do you know any particular reason for the two rings, instead of the more common one ring?

The rear ring slides over the barrel and over the rifle grenade sight when the rifle grenade sight is "down".
IMHO, for better "stabilization" of the mounted, (fixed), bayonet.
