    It seems that your ground found Gew98 has had an interesting life.. It looks like a Triangle FB stamped on the top of the reciever.. This means that it was inspected by the Poles at Radom thus the FB markings, many Gew98s were given to Poland at the end of WW1...More than like lost by a German police unit that was equiped with this rifle in WW2 or liberated from Polish forces in the early 1940 stages of WW2 by Russians...
