Gentlemen, I'm trying to find out the meaning of some markings applied on a 1913 BSA MkIII: one is on the buttstock, the other is on the stock disk. The rifle still retains the older features, (volley sight, cut-off and windgauge back sight), but the barrel has been replaced in 1922 or 1924 (I don't recall exactly).
Hope some kind British guns experts could help me!
    Thanks,
    M.

The numbers are the number of rifle, brass disk has regimental markings, rest of the markings are various British acceptance/test etc

Thanks Ph3s; the number on the disk is indeed "1"; so, 1st foot R.F.? And what does mean P.W.?Again, I'm curious about the "star" impressed on the wood; any clues?

7th foot is the old name of The Royal Fusiliers , so it would be 1st Battalion of The Royal Fusiliers weapon number 844.
Do check the link above for British & Co markings
