Help with this Flare Gun

I need a little help with this flare gun. It is up for auction locally, I think that it is from the WW1 era. If I am correct, could anyone help me with it worth (it is outside of my normal area of stuff, and I would hate to over pay).

Hello. This is an American Army Airforce issue M8 flare gun. Worth between 75-200 dollars. Hope that helps.

Blitzkrieg is correct,you can find them on gun broker and you do not need any paperwork.

This piece was part of the "tote" of the Dakota (and probably other US aircraft as well).

They are really junky (no disrespect) but I have one in my Flare Gun collection just for the historical significance.
