    Bill, am I reading it correctly, "2.G.I.1"? If so, I would guess "Gruppenkommando I" but it's a nonstandard marking even by Reichswehr standards. You better get that verdigris off the brass before it eats into the leather.

    Bill, as it's dated 1920 it would have predated official Reichswehr markings. Guard units were banned by the dictates of the Versailles business but as a 1920 piece it would have fallen within the 1922 provisional marking structure so my guess is 2nd Guard Infantry Division.
