Italian M38 1939 rifle

They were never intended for 1st line use by the Finns as, amongst other things, the rifle uses non standard ammo ie not 7.62 x 54R-were bought because they were available from the Italians quickly and cheaply and would free up Mosin Nagant variants for active combat use.

7.35 original Caliber. I got 100 rounds of ammo too. Heard these shoot really high.

I have 3 and never noticed they shoot high. Good you have ammo. It is more expensive now than it was when I got mine. Glad I got a lot of it long ago. Also 1000 pulled projectiles from a guy at the gun show and 500 hunting projectiles from Midway long ago. You have the 3 cleaning rod sections in the butt trap? Hope you can find a folding knife bayonet cheap. Rich A. in Pa.

I've looked for a folding bayonet for my M38. for many years. Only saw one for sale a few years back. Seller wanted $250 for it. Was that a fair price? I passed it up. What would be a fair price for a nice one today?

Real good prices! They seem to be pretty rare/uncommon bayonets. My rifle is missing the cleaning rod. I also have 200 rounds of 1939 SMI ammo, not going to shoot that stuff.

Shoot the ammo. Pull the projectiles from the duds. Is it in 100 round M.G. boxes on clips? I have ammo in 100,120 and 18 round boxes. Got it years ago when it was in Shotgun News. I reload the military cases. Rich A. in Pa.

They are in small cardboard boxes on stripper clips.

Hi Danny; actually the M38's shoot high, because the fixed post sights are setted to 200 meters (300 on the 6,5 models).
But the Finnish army modified the sights, lowering the aim point to 150 meters, so your rifle should be quite ok.
