In light of my new findings that my bisnonno served with the Brigata Piacenza during World War I, I picked up this rifle to honor him.
It is an M1891 Moschetto per Truppe Speciali was made in the Brescia arsenal in 1915.
I took it home, disassembled it, and gave it a general cleaning.
I would like to fire this rifle at least once, but unfortunately the bore is not in very good shape. I noticed that my 6.5mm bore brush went down the barrel like a hotdog through a hallway... If I do bring it to the range, I expect it to key-hole.
Even if I never end up firing this rifle, I feel it'll group well with my great grandfather's medals and will be an appropriate homage to him.
Questions and comments would be greatly appreciated!
