Default Italian WWI M1891 Carcano TS

In light of my new findings that my bisnonno served with the Brigata Piacenza during World War I, I picked up this rifle to honor him.

It is an M1891 Moschetto per Truppe Speciali was made in the Brescia arsenal in 1915.

I took it home, disassembled it, and gave it a general cleaning.

I would like to fire this rifle at least once, but unfortunately the bore is not in very good shape. I noticed that my 6.5mm bore brush went down the barrel like a hotdog through a hallway... If I do bring it to the range, I expect it to key-hole.

Even if I never end up firing this rifle, I feel it'll group well with my great grandfather's medals and will be an appropriate homage to him.

I've been trying to find a bayonet for mine for over 20 years. Nice pickup Joe. One of the rarer Carcano's.

Nice TS Carcano...And yes the bayonets are rather hard to locate and they also have a strange way of attachment to the bayonet lug,,,sideways........BILL

    Thanks, Kanister and Bill!

I really do like this little rifle, but I'll be honest in saying that I'm bummed about the crusty, worn out bore. I was hoping it would clean up a little better than it did.

    Joe,
Bill is correct, as I said I have been trying to find one for over 20 years. It's my understanding that not only are they rare but if one is found they cost more than the rifle. Note the transverse bayonet lug on the rifle.
