    I remember seeing that rifle at the shop when it first opened! I came very close to purchasing it, actually!

    The story I had heard about the rifle was that it was actually stolen from his duffle bag when he was on his way home after the war.

    I think this happened to a lot of soldiers sent home items,the guys who never went abroad stole them to impress people.

    My dad's sea bag was cut open and the guns he had in it were stolen on the it's way back to the states. He was already here in the hospital. Alot of other vets had the same thing happen to them while they were on the ship coming home. A P-51 pilot had his foot locker broken into and all of his gun camera footage was stolen.

    Unfortunately the looting of combat men's packs and luggage was
    a regular occurrence. Shame on those thieving crooks..........
