I believe this may be an Irish contract as well. The No.4 MK2 has a slightly longer buttstock which greatley reduces the felt recoil as compared to the MKI.These guns are a pleasure to shoot

    Hi Gary,

If you surf the web you will get some web pages, i've a filter in work here so can give you the addresses. I believe 50 000 rifles where manufactured for the Irish government back in the early 1950. I'm not too sure if it wss due to the troubles (abit too early) maybe more to do with Nato changing over to 7.62 the rifles where never delivered, although there are reports that some made it over to Ireland.

I have a list somewhere (or a web page) with all the production numbers with the codes indicating what countries the Nr4 MK2 went too.

    Regards
    Michael

A very nice firearm indeed - and not so dicrepid as people think. Here in New Zealand i'd wager there's one in every shed (garage) or wardrobe!
