Not this one, it’s staying here till I check out
I think it stands a pretty good chance of being original. Serial number is in the correct range. Are there any other proof marks on the stock? I also like the rivets on the folder and the markings on the butt plate as well as the IO inside the stock. Not in a common place but looks good. Do the flip sights show any stake marks of being replace at a later date? Nice inland trigger assembly as well.

Very nice. What a great gun. Don't let it go.
I have one in the 260K serial number range and a March '43 barrel.

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Thanks for looking, the rear sight is original as it was built, never upgraded to adjustable. The IO is in the hand guard too and towards the rear. Ordnance escutcheon is thee as is large circled P never overhauled. Matter of fact Larry Ruth and I went through it and the data sheet is 100% correct.
There are numbers pressed into the leather cheek pad, rivets are right, and you’ll note where the butt plate when folded creased the stock and hand guard and I’d bet it saw combat. A veteran paratrooper sold it to my friend Bernie Lafferty who was set up in Stratford. I jumped on it for 525.00 and if you’ve heard of Bernie he was a huge Luger collector and dealer and flew to gun shows around the country. He crashed his own airplane killing his whole family.
Very nice Carbine.
